Crisis Advice

Many of the charities behind Benevolence Today publish information materials for their specific audiences, which often is people working in specific industries, trades or professions.

Most of this information will also be relevant for people from other walks of life. For this reason we have bundled the most useful information sources so you can find advice useful for you.

Facing Redundancy?

In response to the increasing number of job losses in the profession, the Architects Benevolent Society has produced a redundancy information pack. Aimed at those already out of work or under threat of losing their jobs, the pack details how the ABS can help with advice and financial support. “Redundancy – help and information” deals with the redundancy process, state benefits, debt, paying the rent or mortgage and all the other challenges you face when you lose your job.

Our colleagues at Lionheart, the Chartered Surveyors Benevolent Fund, have published useful information on how to deal with redundancy, which people from all walks of life will find useful.

A useful external link is the Financial Services Authority (FSA) which provides advice for people losing their jobs.

Facing Money Management Problems?

CABA, the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Association has published a very useful online fact-sheet on debt.

Our coalition partner Elizabeth Finn Care’s website offers a good list of links to organisations which help with debt.

Our coalition partner, the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund, has developed a new advice website for doctors, which holds information which may be very useful for other people as well. In its section on money management, it links to organisations relevant to doctors, but further down the page also lists general organisations useful to anyone with money problems

The Royal Medical Benevolent Fund also published a good article about basic good money management which contains basic guidelines useful to anyone.

A good external resource is the Financial Services Authority's (FSA) information on debt on its website Moneymadeclear.

Confused by all the jargon you need to understand to get out of trouble? The FSA also offers a jargon buster.

Please note that the helpline mentioned on their site is for Chartered Accountants only - if you want to contact a charity for help directly, please see further down on this page for where to find contact details.
